Sheep Shoes - Life of Leisure
An unsung video from a short-lived shoe company, Sheep was unfairly tagged a “hippy’ team. However, in this video, only half the team skates to bongos and reggae, so whatever. What a line-up! Brian Anderson’s lines(!) at Hubba Hideout, Charlie Wilkins’ East Coast deep freeze, Matt Field and Mike Manzoori’s body varial stylings, seldom seen in that decade, Sergei Trudnowski’s downhill firecracker, and Ed’s signature ’90s Ed-ness. My favorite part, however, is Frank Hirata’s. Before he tanked his pro career by championing the building of the worst designed skateparks on the planet, not to mention his questionable eyewear choices, Frank pioneered style and tricks which people are just catching up to now. His quick push, between-the-legs frontside flips and frontside 360s were envious in ‘97 and still are today.
